In celebration of the "2015-2016 130th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Korea and France," an exhibition titled "The Roots of Korean Contemporary Art (Minhwa and Korean Art of 2016)" will be held in Paris, France, from March 14 to March 31, for a duration of 18 days.
In this exhibition, Helio Art will showcase traditional Korean folk paintings, known as Minhwa, which form the foundation of the development of Korean contemporary art. The exhibition will take place in two gallery spaces within the Musée Adam Mickiewicz. The traditional Minhwa on display will include works such as “Ho Pyo Do”, “Chaek Ga Do”, “Hwa Hye Do”, “Mo Ran Do”, “Hwa Jo Do”, “Eo Hae Do”, “San Su Do”, and “Moon Ja Do”, presented in forms such as folding screens, scrolls, and framed artworks.
In the remaining gallery space, the exhibition will feature works by contemporary Korean artists, allowing visitors to experience the journey from the past to the present of Korean art.
Minhwa, with its outstanding satirical expression and decorative beauty, is a unique artistic masterpiece that predates the abstract aesthetics of Western masters like Picasso by two centuries. Despite its modern artistic value, Minhwa has not been fully recognized for its contemporary significance.
Helio Art aims to introduce the traditional Minhwa, which embodies the essence of Korean contemporary art, alongside the works of the hottest artists of the 2000s, in the heart of the global art market in Paris. This will showcase the tradition and unique artistry of Korean art to the world.
The exhibition space is the Musée Adam Mickiewicz, a national treasure of France located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. Since its establishment in the 1830s, it has hosted various exhibitions and cultural events for the development of history and cultural arts, and it possesses a rich collection of art books. By presenting traditional Minhwa, which forms the foundation of the development of Korean contemporary art, in a venue that seeks rich cultural exchanges, this exhibition will generate deeper cultural synergy.
한불 수교 130주년(2015-2016)을 기념하여 "한국 현대미술의 근원(민화와 2016년 한국 미술)"이라는 전시가 프랑스 파리에서 3월 14일부터 3월 31일까지 18일간 개최되었습니다.
헬리오컴퍼니는 전시를 통해 한국 현대미술 발전의 기초를 형성한 전통 한국 민화(民画)를 선보였습니다. 전시는 파리 4구에 위치한 프랑스 국보급 공간인 아담 미츠키비에치 미술관 내 두 개의 갤러리 공간에서 열렸습니다. 전시된 전통 민화에는 "호표도", "책가도", "화혜도", "모란도", "화조도", "어해도", "산수도", "문자도" 등이 포함되었으며, 병풍, 족자, 액자 등의 형태로 전시되었습니다. 나머지 갤러리 공간에서는 현대 한국 작가들의 작품이 전시되어 방문객들이 한국 예술의 과거에서 현재까지의 여정을 경험할 수 있었습니다.
민화는 뛰어난 풍자적 표현과 장식적 아름다움을 지닌 독특한 예술 작품으로, 피카소와 같은 서양 대가들의 추상적 미학보다 두 세기 앞서 존재했습니다. 현대 예술적 가치를 지녔음에도 불구하고, 민화는 현대적 중요성을 충분히 인정받지 못했습니다.
헬리오컴퍼니는 한국 현대 미술의 정수를 담고 있는 전통 민화와 2000년대의 가장 핫한 작가들의 작품을 파리의 글로벌 아트 시장 중심부에 소개하여 한국 예술의 전통과 독특한 예술성을 세계에 알리고자 했습니다.
전시 장소는 1830년대에 설립되어 다양한 전시와 문화 행사를 통해 역사와 문화 예술의 발전을 도모해온 파리 4구에 위치한 프랑스 국보급 공간 아담 미츠키비에치 미술관이었습니다. 한국 현대 미술 발전의 기초를 형성하는 전통 민화를 이처럼 풍부한 문화 교류를 추구하는 장소에서 소개함으로써, 이번 전시는 더 깊은 문화적 시너지를 창출했습니다.
