Sangjoong Kang

Sangjoong Kang's work is varied. 강상중 작가의 작품은 실제로 움직이는 빛을 기하학적인 원형으로 탈바꿈하여, 색채와 함께 생명의 근원을 표현한다. 한 치의 흐트러짐 없이 표현되는 작품은 작가의 수없이 반복된 밑 작업과 세필로 이루어진다.
그의 작업은 다채롭다. 작품의 형식은 설치와 회화를 비롯하여 드로잉, 판화 등으로 다양하게 전개되었고, 작업의 테마는 ‘빛과 생명’이라는 근원적인 물음에 대한 해석으로 전개되어 왔다. 80년대 후반에는 실재하는 ‘빛과 움직임’을 사용한 설치작업(installation)이었다면, 90년대 중반 평면회화에 나타난 ‘빛과 생명’은 문명과 신화 속에 내재된 담론의 표현이었다. 2천년데 이후로는 기하적이고 옵티컬한 구조를 접목한, 원초적인 표상의 작업들로 구성되어 있다.
