이재효 작가는 자연적인 소재의 변형을 통해 동양의 자연적인 조형미를 완성한다. 그는 작품이 작가와 분리되어 오로지 그 자체의 메시지를 갖기를 원하며, 때문에 이재효 작가의 작품은 모든 이에게 쉽게 공감대를 형성하게 된다.

나무의 단면이 드러난 조형적인 의자와 테이블, 작은 못을 구부려 만든 조형물은 소재의 본질은 변하지 않은 채 우리에게 익숙한 형상을 갖게 된다. 이를 통해 작가는 자연적 소재를 우리의 일상으로 끌어오는데 성공한다.
