Andy Warhol

One of the most famous artists in the world, Andy Warhol was born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied commercial art at Carnegie Institute of Technology and moved to New York to work in advertising field in 1949, and this experience helped him to develop his own style in art. In his early paintings the theme were mostly from advertisements and comics, but since 1963 he started to produce silkscreened works and this method became associated with commercial printing. Warhol depicted commercial things such as a Brillo pad box or Campbell's soup can with simple colors to make it more close to traditional still life or abstract painting.

His studio was called The Factory - he worked with assistants and made the progress of art also into a part of mass media and capitalism.More than twenty years after his death, Andy Warhol remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary art and culture. Warhol’s life and work inspires creative thinkers worldwide thanks to his enduring imagery, his artfully cultivated celebrity, and the ongoing research of dedicated scholars. His impact as an artist is far deeper and greater than his one prescient observation that “everyone will be world famous for fifteen minutes.” His omnivorous curiosity resulted in an enormous body of work that spanned every available medium and most importantly contributed to the collapse of boundaries between high and low culture.
